Defending champion Daniel Brooks was without a doubt the favourite heading into last Saturday night’s Tasmanian AMCA Nationals Title at Carrick Speedway as he attempted to clinch his fifth consecutive crown, but it was Andrew ‘Dooie’ Ryder who managed to put a stop to his dominance, scoring what was a popular victory amongst his rivals.
Having placed second in the 2017 running of the event to Brooks, also at Carrick Speedway, Ryder had unfinished business when it came to the Tasmanian Title, but it seems that the time was right last Saturday night for him to clinch his maiden state title, after a late-race charge saw him take the feature-race lead.

Surviving what can only be described as a turbulent feature race, it was former Victorian Champion Darren ‘Plugger’ McCarthy who came out on top in last Saturday night’s South Australian AMCA Nationals Title at Murray Bridge Speedway.
With more cars finishing on the infield than greeting the chequered flag, just managing to make it to the end of the 30-lap South Australian Title-deciding feature race proved to be a challenge in itself; however, it was a challenge that McCarthy, from Mildura in Victoria, was more than capable of handling.

Off the back of what was a pleasing performance in the Australian Title, NSW visitor Tony Blanch was able to build on his front-running form during the recent Queensland AMCA Nationals Title at Brisbane’s Archerfield Speedway, ultimately coming away with the victory.
Rounding out the Australian Title podium in third just four nights prior to the Queensland Title event, Blanch, from Grafton in northern NSW, was riding a wave of confidence heading into last Wednesday night’s competition, and after what was a consistent run throughout qualifying, he was rewarded with the first major win of his career.

While a bumper field of 40 AMCA National drivers were hot in contention for victory during last weekend’s Australian Title at Toowoomba’s Hi-Tec Oils Speedway, it was former champion Matt Hardy who put his skills as a driver to the test, managing to conquer them all.
Heading into the 40-lap feature race, one could be excused for not counting Hardy as one of the favourites, given that he was set to start the race from deep in the field out of position 11. However, the 2016 Australian Champion refused to let that hinder his chances.

With each state and territory represented, this Friday and Saturday night will see a quality field of drivers converge on Toowoomba’s Hi-Tec Oils Speedway, where they will attempt to stop defending champion Jeremy Moore from scoring back-to-back Australian AMCA National Title victories.
Having earned the Australia # 1 mantle last season at Ballarat’s Redline Raceway in Victoria, before going on to claim top honours in both the Victorian and NSW Titles during what was a stellar 2017-18 season for him, Moore, from South Australia, will be difficult to beat when he takes to the track this weekend amongst the tough 40-car field, but with drivers such as Tim Reidy (Vic) in attendance, he certainly won’t be an easy task.
