Experience Triumphs Over Youth

While youngster Lance Carew certainly kept his rivals honest in the recent Northern Territory AMCA National Title, supported by Greener Grass, at Darwin’s Northline Speedway, it was experienced racer Spano Gutierrez who ultimately claimed his maiden title win.

A force to be reckoned with throughout the entirety of the event, ex-NT resident and recently-crowned Darwin Champion Gutierrez, from Muswellbrook in the Upper Hunter region of NSW, proved too strong, clean sweeping each of the three heat races and qualifying on pole position for the 25-lap NT Title-deciding feature race.

AMCA Nationals on the Front Foot

In an effort to modernise the class and make it easier for drivers to complete maintenance on their cars, AMCA Nationals is excited to announce that a brand-new purpose-built front end will soon be available for purchase.

With cars currently running Holden HQ front ends, which are becoming increasingly harder to find and often take considerable time to customise, AMCA Nationals wanted to create a cost-effective alternative for drivers that would help to bring the class up to date, with many other speedway class’ running interchangeable off the shelf parts, as well as significantly reducing the time spent on changing these parts.

Moore’s Title Rein Continues

Off the back of his Australian and Victorian Title victories earlier this season, Jeremy Moore continued his strong title run last Saturday night at Sydney’s Valvoline Raceway, outperforming what was arguably the strongest NSW AMCA Nationals Title field of the past decade to claim his third title crown.

The 2017-18 season has without a doubt delivered Moore with his best results yet since joining the AMCA Nationals class three seasons ago with two impressive wins in the Australian and Victorian Titles at Ballarat’s Redline Raceway and Swan Hill’s Sonic Speedway earlier this year, and last Saturday night’s NSW Title was no different.

NSW Title to Moore

With both the Australian and Victorian AMCA National Titles to his name this season, Jeremy Moore added yet another title to his resume – this time it was last Saturday night’s NSW Title at Sydney’s Valvoline Raceway.

Moore, who is from Kybybolite in the south-east of South Australia, entered the feature race as the highest point scorer following a win, a second and a third placing from his three heat races, survived a frantic opening lap which saw a few of his rivals eliminated as the result of a crash.

After leading away at the restart, Moore found himself back in second place, losing the spot to defending NSW Title holder Matt Hardy. Moore then played the patience game and with 10 laps remaining, made the move back into the lead. He then led the remaining laps to record an exciting win as the margin of victory was just 0.2 of a second.

Maiden Title for Heseltine

Over the weekend, Dean Heseltine certainly had plenty of reason to celebrate at Mildura’s Timmis Speedway when he managed to break through to win his maiden state title victory in the South Australian AMCA Nationals Title, while also taking out the overall All Stars Series win.

Having always shown strong pace during state title events, with his best previous result being a fifth-place finish in a Victorian Title, Heseltine had not yet been able to clinch the top spot; however, that all changed when everything came together for him on Friday night on a track that he described as both fast and rough.

Heseltine Claims SA Title Glory

It’s been a long time coming, but finally Dean Heseltine over the weekend at Mildura’s Timmis Speedway broke through for his maiden major AMCA Nationals title win in the South Australian Title.

Regarded as one of Victoria’s leading drivers in recent seasons, Heseltine, aboard his Vic # 93 Hair By Denae-backed Panther car, proved too good against a hot South Australian Title field.

Despite their best efforts, Matt Hardy (Qld) and Andrew Ryder (Tas) were unable to pip Heseltine and had to settle for the minor positions on the podium in second and third place respectively.

Durston Returns to Victory Lane

After a 12-month stint on the sidelines, AMCA Nationals racer Nathan Durston found himself back in the winner’s circle at Brisbane’s Archerfield Speedway last Saturday night, breaking through to claim his first feature-race win since returning to the track.

While he’s visited the podium on several occasions throughout the 2017-18 season in the minor positions, Durston hadn’t quite been able to reach the top step while attempting to dial in his 350 Chev powered Qld # 97 Palm Beach Motors / McKinnell Motorsports supported Kempy car; however, last Saturday night’s outing proved that his car is now well and truly capable of winning.
