The 2016-17 season winning ways for Deano Heseltine continued in last Saturday night’s second Country Cup Series round for AMCA Nationals at Rosedale Speedway and his winning tally is now at three wins from as many starts.

Heseltine, who has this season upgraded to a 350 Chev engine and quick-change differential package, has been surprised by his start to the season and counts his Rosedale Speedway win on Saturday night as his most pleasing so far.

“The more you win, the more pressure that comes with it; however, I’m not getting too ahead of myself and am just taking each race meeting as it comes,” explained the 31-year-old racer from Lancefield in Victoria, who drives the Vic # 93 Hair By Denae backed Panther car and has this season scored feature-race wins at Rushworth Speedway and Heartland Raceway tracks.

“A lot of effort has gone into the new car for this season, especially with the new 350 Chev and quick-change differential package, and it’s that we’ve been able to start the season so strongly, because you’re not too sure how you’re going to perform on tracks that you haven’t previously ran at with the new package.

“I came away from Rosedale Speedway very satisfied, because it’s a tough track and our car managed to handle the slick track conditions the best and we came away with the win.”

After five seasons in Street Stocks, Heseltine stepped into AMCA Nationals and is currently enjoying his fourth season in the class, which has seen him claim a total of three feature-race wins prior to this current season. Without his supportive wife (Mena), along with his mum and dad (Trish and Ray), Mark Lincoln, Ryan and Luke Heseltine, Kyran Barber, Beau Sliwinski, Brett Petrou and Dan Scott, none of Heseltine’s current success would be possible. In particular, the support of three-time Australian Champion and good friend Mark Lincoln over the years has been of benefit to Heseltine.

Despite the successful start to the season, Heseltine doesn’t currently have plans to contest the Australian Title at Kalgoorlie International Speedway in Western Australia (due to being self-employed and not being able to get the time off needed to contest the event); however, his main focus is the Victorian, South Australian and NSW Titles.

Heseltine is next going to be in action on the Saturday night of December 10 at Ballarat’s Redline Raceway for the second round of the Action Series, which doubles as the opening round of the Barry Reidy Memorial.

For the 2016-17 season, Heseltine is sponsored by Hair By Denae, S&S Tyquin Bulk Haulage, Kouda Signs, Heseltine Haulage, Rylude Haulage, MRL Contracting, Tosca Homes, Just In Time Transport, MSR Engines, and Panther Race Cars.
