Barnstorming Brooks

Continuing his Tasmanian AMCA National Title reign, Daniel Brooks made it a remarkable four wins on the trot in last Saturday night’s running of the event at Cranes Combined Carrick Speedway.

The event, which was initially washed out on its original date last month, attracted a field of 19 cars and just like last season’s event, Brooks, from Bothwell in Tasmania, started from pole position and then led all 30-laps. The race was run at a frantic pace as the final 23-laps ran non-stop after an early caution on lap seven.

Heseltine Returns to Victory Lane

After getting his 2017-18 season off to the best possible start back in October, Dean Heseltine recently at Moama’s Heartland Raceway returned to victory lane after taking out the third AMCA Nationals Action Series round.

Despite not quite achieving the same results as last season, which saw him collect six feature-race wins, Heseltine has enjoyed a positive 2017-18 season so far in his six appearances, having shown solid pace aboard his Vic # 93 Hair By Denae-backed Panther car which he believes has led to improved driving.

Markulin Makes Gains

Despite being forced to qualify for the recent Australian AMCA Nationals Title-deciding feature race via the B main, Peter Markulin certainly proved that he was up to the challenge after coming away with a satisfying top-10 finish.

In what was his sixth Australian Title attempt, Markulin well and truly beat the odds to achieve his best result yet, with his previous best result being ninth place in the 2014 running of the event at Carrick Speedway in Tasmania, but he certainly didn’t do it the easy way.

Moore Title Success in Victoria

In Saturday night’s Victorian AMCA Nationals Title at Swan Hill’s Sonic Speedway, it was newly-crowned Australian Champion Jeremy Moore who once again earned his champion status after taking out top feature-race honours.

Strongly resembling the early stages of the Australian Title feature race just one week prior, where the Victorian duo of Mathew Mills and Jamie Collins, along with Moore (SA), led the field before Moore came away with the victory, the Victorian Title-deciding feature race once again saw the trio heading up the pack; however, on this occasion, Moore didn’t have to wait until mid-race distance to take the lead.

Sullivan’s Aussie Title Surprise

Exceeding even his own expectations in the recent Australian AMCA Nationals Title at Ballarat’s Redline Raceway, Paul Sullivan couldn’t have been happier to come away with a somewhat surprising podium result.

Having had a fairly quiet start to the 2017-18 season, off the back of a similarly quiet off season with little car preparation completed, Sullivan certainly didn’t expect to be standing on the Australian Title podium after the recent running of the event, with his runner-up finish delivering him with a new career highlight.
